This process applies to Network Rail controllers who shall if deemed appropriate, instigate the measures appropriate for the circumstances in accordance with this procedure.

PURPOSE

The module sets out the process to be followed by Network Rail Controllers to:

a) Arrange for a train or trains to be stopped in an emergency situation; and

b) Arrange for discharge of traction current in an emergency situation; and

c) Facilitate the use of The Emergency Access Code by an Operator when emergency track access to non-Network Rail controlled infrastructure is requested; and

d) Maintain an up-to-date list of contact details for each of the Emergency Services that operate in the Route and Areas covered by the control office within the automated telephone systems.
