Network Rail
PURPOSE
To achieve current UK CO2 emission targets, ownership and operation of electric road vehicles will increase. To support this, an improved charging infrastructure will be required.
Network Rail acknowledges this and understands that its car parks will require the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging points, both for Network Rail vehicles and those of passengers and the general public.
This EV charging point system definition considers a single charging point installation for electric vehicles from new or existing Network Rail car parks.
Installation of EV charging points will help Network Rail reduce its carbon footprint from vehicle use as the organisation switches to electric road vehicles. It will also offer reputational benefits as customers and members of the public alike are afforded the opportunity to charge their vehicles at charging points located on Network Rail property.
Minimal changes will be required to accommodate these charging points, although it may be necessary to modify or upgrade the provision of electricity from the Grid to the position where the charging points are to be located.
