The scope of this module is to outline the procedure by which Network Rail monitors and manages the effect of high winds on the network. The document describes the control measures used during and following times of high wind, whereby the impact of objects which may have fallen on or near the line is mitigated, either by the total restriction of trains or speed restrictions for trains during and after periods of high wind.
Purpose
The purpose of this module is to provide guidance regarding how Network Rail manages the operational risks arising from events of high winds to give adequate protection to rail traffic for such events.
