The standard is applicable to all operational signallers and crossing keepers who work at signalling locations that make use of either a train register book and / or occurrence book. This includes: single / multi-manned signal boxes, rail operating centres, integrated electronic control centres, signalling control centres, power signal boxes, Electric Control Rooms (ECRs) and level crossing boxes operated by a level crossing keeper.
The standard is applicable to all operational signalling methodologies (Absolute Block, Track Circuit Block, Electric Token Block, Tokenless Block and No-Signaller Token Block regulations.
The procedure describes the process for carrying out checks of the Train Register / Occurrence Books and verification process for self-assurance purposes.
PURPOSE
To mandate the checking / cross checking and verification of all train running entries made in Train Register / Occurrence Books to the required frequency and specification.
The risk of not mandating these checks could lead to irregular working practices and / or repeated minor recording errors which, if left unchecked, have the potential to result in operational safety of the line incidents.
The checks will confirm adherence to GE/RT8000 and generate evidence of nontechnical skills.
