This procedure applies to all employees undertaking safety critical work. It applies to all Network Rail managers with direct responsibility for Operational and Control activities which rely on Network Rail employees being fit for work in order to provide a safe operational railway whilst undertaking safety critical work.

PURPOSE

This procedure provides the employee and line manager with a process for exploring personal issues or other behavioural factors that might affect their concentration and application to the tasks in hand, and consequently could present a potential risk to safety. It outlines the types of support available and actions that can be used to help support the employee whilst maintaining the safety of the railway.
