This work instruction applies to the structural, mechanical and electrical plant components associated with the general routine maintenance activities of all Network Rail traversers.

This work instruction should be read in conjunction with the manufacturer’s maintenance manual specific to the installation being maintained.

As the equipment varies between sites and these are generic instructions, maintenance tasks may refer to components and sub systems not present on every traverser.

Purpose

This work instruction describes the minimum requirements for quarterly, twice yearly and annual maintenance routines for traversers. This work instruction supports the control; planned, preventative and reactive maintenance – inspect equipment in line with the maintenance plan and repair/replace defective parts or renew equipment. It helps to mitigate the risk; failure of fixed depot plant.
