This process applies to all Ballast Cleaning and Track Relaying systems whether being brought into service or during operations on Network Rail managed infrastructure. The GE/RT8000 Rule book does not wholly lend itself to ballast cleaning and track relaying vehicles in terms of its defective equipment, but this document seeks to cover some of the fundamental operational aspects that these vehicles present, to provide a level of advice and appropriate action. Additional vehicle specific information may be found in HOP019 (General Procedure for BCS, Sect 8.5) and HOP021 (General procedure for TRS, Sect 8.3).
This document should be used for reference by SCO: 24/7 Rail Plant Controllers in conjunction with NR/PRC/SCO/Control001 - Rail Plant Control Manual, and relevant Fleet & Engineering staff.
Purpose
This document mandates the contingency arrangements for when SCO’s Fleet & Engineering rail vehicles on-train and ancillary equipment become defective.
