Before making a connection, insulation has to be removed from the wire. Wherever possible you should use a proper stripping tool for insulation removal.

When using the stripping tool, take care that the metal conductor is not nicked or damaged in any way by the stripping operation. This warning also applies to the braid in the case of a screened or co-axial cable.
