This standard specifies the maintenance requirements for voice recorders used on Network Rail telecoms infrastructure.

This instruction applies to all persons engaged in the maintenance of voice recorder equipment for Network Rail.

This standard does not apply to WingCon voice recorders.

NOTE: All Voice Recorders within the NRT Product portfolio are intended to be covered within this standard. However, voice recorders are increasingly becoming server based applications which might vary the hardware checks that need to take place.

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to mandate the maintenance requirements for voice recorders in use on Network Rail telecoms infrastructure.

Maintaining and testing voice recorder systems decreases the incidence of failures through deterioration and identifies potential failures before they become service affecting.

Implementation of this standard contributes to mitigating the risk of equipment failure that has the potential to cause loss of operational voice recordings for evidential or investigative purposes.
