This instruction applies to all persons engaged in the maintenance of public address systems used by Network Rail and/or the SFO.
Please note the maintenance regime for the Public Address PC’s is detailed within NR/L3/TEL/30181/023 Maintenance of Public Address Personal Computer (PC) and Recorded Announcement Equipment.
The maintenance requirements for Power Plant, UPS and Batteries used to support PA Systems are detailed in NR/L2/TEL/30081.
Purpose
This instruction defines the telecommunications maintenance procedure for public address systems used by Network Rail and/or the Station Facilities Owner (SFO).
The purpose of maintaining public address systems is to decrease the incidence of failures through deterioration and to identify potential defects before they become service effecting.
