This procedure is applicable to all Network Rail staff, and all contractors employed by Network Rail who are responsible for inspection and maintenance of track.

This procedure applies to the management of weather precautions relating to track within the maintenance organisation.

This procedure details the posts responsible within the maintenance organisation for arranging that actions are taken where non-compliances are identified.

It does not include other functions within maintenance or the management of structures.

Purpose

This Standard Maintenance Procedure details the roles and responsibilities within the Maintenance organisation in the management of weather precautions relating to cold weather situations.
