Network Rail
This Network Rail standard specifies requirements for surveys of OLE for which a co-ordinated Engineering, or Topographic survey is required. It excludes routine maintenance surveys already covered by other standards.
Requirements for individual project scopes are detailed in Table 3 of this standard.
The appropriate parts of this standard are intended to be used with NR/GN/TRK/3103 to identify the relevant survey methodology appropriate to the GRIP stage.
The types of OLE surveys related to GRIP are given in Table 3. A matrix of survey requirements is given in Appendix C.
Purpose
This standard facilitates the creation of a specification for Topographic survey works for overhead line equipment (OLE). It provides guidance to Project managers and Designated project engineers on specifying and commissioning Topographic surveys where the accuracy needs are better than +/–100 mm in position.
It is intended to be used with NR/L2/TRK/3100, Topographic, Engineering, Land and Measured building surveying – Strategy and general.
Guidance on the various survey techniques most appropriate for the GRIP Stages are found in the NR/GN/TRK/3103, Survey and mapping techniques.
The standard is not intended to include OLE maintenance measurement activities or duplicate standards that already exist, nor provide detail on remedial works for electrification design apart from satisfying the topographic survey requirements to enable that design.
