This work instruction applies to all persons, including contractors, engaged by MP&I Civils Renewals to carry out works on Network Rail Infrastructure. It is intended to reduce the risk of damage to buried services during the process of carrying out ground penetration works on the Railway Infrastructure.

Purpose

This work instruction sets out the Network Rail Major Projects & Investment, Civils Renewals process for preventing the uncontrolled use of driven metal pins or spikes into the ground on Network Rail Infrastructure on Civils worksites. This instruction must be read in conjunction with NP/PRC/MPI/0026 "Process for locating buried services prior to ground penetration".
