This procedure applies to all persons, including contractors, engaged to carry out works on Network Rail Infrastructure. It is intended to reduce the risk of damage to buried services during the process of carrying out ground penetration works on the Railway Infrastructure. This procedure is not intended to be used in full for emergency works, however as much information as is possible should be obtained and recorded on the Excavation Checksheet at Appendix A.

Purpose

This procedure sets out the Network Rail MP&I Civils process for locating buried services prior to ground penetration. This SPP must be read in conjunction with RT/LS/S/011, RT/LS/P/028 and RT/E/WI/00114. This SPP does not supersede the requirements of RT/LS/S/011 and RT/LS/P/028.
