This SPP applies to all persons, including contractors, engaged by Projects to carry out works on Network Rail Infrastructure. It is intended to reduce the risk of damage to buried services during the process of carrying out ground penetration works on the Railway Infrastructure.

PURPOSE

This Standard Project Procedure, (SPP) sets out the Network Rail Projects process for preventing the uncontrolled use of driven metal pins or spikes, (this includes composites with metal pins) into the ground on Network Rail Infrastructure on Projects worksites. This instruction must be read in conjunction with NR/PRC/MPI/CP0026 "Process for locating buried services prior to ground penetration."
