This Special Inspection Notice applies to all Operational Buildings where gaseous fire suppression systems are installed which require an initial inspection / examination to ascertain the system overall visual condition and whether the pressurised gas cylinders are within the hydrostatic test date of 10 years from manufacture or as prescribed by manufacturer/system supplier. The overall scope is to prioritised as follows:
Priority 1 – Inergen gaseos fire suppression systems in Operational Property (as per Didcot incident)
Priority 2 – All other gaseos fire suppression systems in Operational Property
Purpose
This Special Inspection Notice (SIN) applies to all Operational Property (stations, depots, lineside buildings, ROCs etc.) assets which have Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems.
This SIN is issued following an incident at The GSMR core node at Didcot and requires Route Asset Managers (RAMs) responsible for operational property and other structures to:-
• Inspect condition and identify where expired asset replacement is necessary of all pressurised gas cylinders and associated equipment (e.g. actuators, valves, pipework and other key components of pressurised system)
