The SIN applies to the list of automatic level crossings collated by the Signalling RAMs and analysed under the scope of NR/SIN/137.

Purpose

This Special Inspection Notice (SIN) mandates the process to:

a) assess the risk of automatic level crossings which present with excessive warning time, thus manifesting as extended level crossing closure times for the user; and

b) develop a plan of action to manage these risks.

The SIN contains a procedure and guidance for conducting the risk assessment and documenting the results and actions.
