This specification sets out the asset policy for cross track cables. It is essential to manage these carefully to ensure track maintenance, in particular an absolute track geometry railway, can be maintained appropriately.
This specification is mandatory for all renewals, enhancements and maintenance work. Renewals and enhancement work is classed as all work that requires the disconnection of a cross track cable within planned work.
Maintenance work is defined as work carried out in a rapid response situation, most usually when rectifying a fault
