This Code of Practice applies to Longitudinal Timbers supporting track on Railtrack infrastructure. The track may be directly supported by the Longitudinal Timbers or carried on cross-sleepered track on Longitudinal Timbers.
PURPOSE
This Code of Practice provides guidance on the installation, maintenance and inspection of Longitudinal Timber Systems on Railtrack infrastructure. Guidance is also provided on design matters. Guidance on the installation, maintenance and inspection of supporting structures is not provided.
This document is to be read in conjunction with RT/CE/S/038: Longitudinal Timbers – Design, Installation and Maintenance.
