This code of practice applies to the procurement, installation, acceptance and maintenance of new and modified track where CEN60E1 rail or RT60 switches & crossings are specified.

It should be noted that this is a "living" document and that it will be updated as further developments take place. In some cases interim procedures and instructions are set out. In due course these will be formalised into Railtrack Line specifications, where this has not already been done.

PURPOSE

This code of practice provides guidance to all persons involved in the procurement, installation, acceptance and maintenance of new and modified track where CEN60E1 rail or RT60 switches & crossings are specified. The basic differences between CEN60E1 and BS113A rail and the differences between vertical and RT60 turnouts are described. The "special" requirements for components, equipment and procedures are summarised.
