These procedures apply to all assessments of Railtrack-owned structures.

These procedures do not cover the technical standards and methods to be used for assessments. (Standards and methods for bridges are given in Railtrack Line Procedure RT/CE/P/016 The Assessment of Bridge Capacity.)

PURPOSE

To set out the Technical Approval procedures to be followed for assessment of the loadcarrying capacity of bridges and other structures owned by Railtrack, such that these procedures:-

- comply with the requirements of Railway Group Standard GC/RT 5100;

- are broadly equivalent to those given in Department of Transport BD 2/89 Part 1.
