This specification applies to all Employers of Persons New to Track and whose work may involve the maintenance, inspection or renewal of the track or other duties that may affect the stability, position or integrity of the track infrastructure.
This specification also applies to all Training Organisations and Trainers approved under the requirements of Company Standard RT/CE/S/097 - Quality Assurance of Training and Assessment - Permanent Way Engineering.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this specification is to detail mandatory requirements for the Training and assessment of Persons New to Track whose duties will involve maintenance, inspection or renewal of the track or other work that affects the stability, position or integrity of the track infrastructure. The specification details the requirement for a Person in Scope to attend and successfully complete the Network Rail Track Induction Course. It also defines the competence standards against which Persons in Scope will be subsequently assessed to confirm their competence.
Through the application of this specification Network Rail will ensure that only staff with an acceptable level of knowledge, awareness and understanding of track engineering are deployed onto track work sites.
