This procedure is mandatory and shall be complied with by Railtrack and its Agents involved in the management of all contracts related to Investment Project, as defined in the Railtrack Investment Regulations (excluding Track Renewals) with effect from August 1996.

There are a range of Railtrack Line Procedures relating to the requirements for technical and safety approvals etc., and the processes for obtaining them. The requirements of this Procedure complement but do not replace other relevant requirements.

PURPOSE

To provide safety procedures for:

• ensuring that the form of contract to be used is appropriate to the work involved and the risks to be managed

• ensuring the Competency of a Contractor of Supplier prior to Contract award

• monitoring Contract performance
