This procedure is mandatory and shall be complied with by Railtrack and its Agents involved in the management of all safety related Professional Service contracts with effect from December 1996.

There are a range of Railtrack Line Procedures relating to the requirements for technical and safety approvals etc., and the processes for obtaining them. The requirements of this Procedure complement but do not replace other relevant requirements.

The Railtrack Manager requiring the procurement of safety related professional services shall appoint a competent Railtrack Nominated Contract Manager (RNCM) to manage the contract(s).

PURPOSE

To provide safety procedures for:

• ensuring that the form of contract to be used is appropriate to the work involved and the risks to be managed

• ensuring the Competency of a Contractor of Supplier prior to Contract award

• monitoring Contract performance
