This Code of Practice applies to all types of signalling and operational telecommunications works and systems defined in Section 5.

This Code of Practice covers both hardware and software, including software development, software tools and data used in programmable signalling systems.

This Code of Practice does not cover the general duties of design authorities, including:

a) qualifications and competence requirements (see GM/RT2450 and GK/RT0101);

b) presentation and production processes for design details (see RT/E/S/11201);

c) documentary requirements for the different types of design detail drawing and their inter-relationship (see RT/E/C/11701).

Reference to particular items of equipment in this Code of Practice does not imply product acceptance or type approval.

PURPOSE

This Code of Practice, in support of GK/RT0206, gives guidance on meeting the minimum technical requirements to ensure that the design of railway signalling and operational telecommunications systems is safe and dependable.
