This document shall apply to GEC-GS type HW point machines reserviced at York Service Centre during 1993.

It does not address the general personnel and system safety measures necessary for working on the track with signalling equipment.

PURPOSE

During the reservicing of GEC-GS type HW point machines in 1993, a number of units inadvertently had their motor control contact assemblies completely nickel plated. This process adversely affected the properties of the flexible braid, causing them to break in use.

This document gives advice on the procedure necessary to:

• identify affected contacts

• obtain replacement contact assemblies

• carry out the replacement
