This document defines the additional servicing requirements that are to be carried out on GEC Type RR200X Reed receiver amplifiers. The modifications and servicing procedures are being introduced to address receiver amplifier self-oscillation. The specific processes defined in this in this Code of Practice are:
• the fitting of a 2mH choke to RR2000, RR2001 and RR2002 receiver amplifiers;
• the replacement of the front pair receiver amplifier base contact plates;
• identification and labelling of modified receiver amplifiers.
Note: the fitting of a 2mH choke is not required on RR2003 receiver amplifiers as they already have this modification incorporated.
Purpose
It has been found that conditions can exist making it possible for a signal to appear on a receiver amplifier's output with no signal present on the input. This effect is known as self-oscillation but it can be addressed by modifying the receiver amplifier.
The aim of this document is to identify to servicing agents specific additional servicing requirements that are required on GEC FDM Reed receiver amplifiers.
