This code of practice applies to all persons working on or having access to electrical equipment forming part of electrical power supply systems.
It also specifically applies to the mandatory training and assessment requirements for Authorised Persons and Nominated Persons for Overhead Line Equipment A.C. isolations.
This code of practice also applies to training of persons arranging protection for working in close proximity to OLE or conductor rail.
This code of practice does not apply to the training requirements for Electrical Control Operators or additional training which may be required for access to electrical power supply locations such as Tunnel Permits or Personal Track Safety certification.
Purpose
The purpose of this code of practice is to set out good practice for the requirements for training and assessment of persons working on or having access to electrical power supply equipment so they have sufficient technical knowledge, education and experience to ensure their competence to carry out their duties without risk of danger to themselves or other persons, and without damage to the equipment concerned.
This code of practice also details the requirements for training and assessment of Authorised Persons and Nominated Persons for Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) A.C. isolations to support national certification and recording arrangements under Sentinel for these staff.
