Introduction
This recommendation applies to uninhibited insulating oils in transformers, switchgear and similar apparatus where sampling is practicable. It is based on past experience and the British Standard Code of Practice BS 5730: 1979, Maintenance of Insulating Oil.
Recommendations for oil used in hermetically sealed and low oil volume equipment are excluded from this instruction as such equipment is not designed for the process of routine oil sampling.
