Introduction

This Procedure covers the initial examination, routine examination and re-adjustment procedure for Balance Weight Terminations of Mark I design Overhead Line Equipment to ensure free movement over the working temperature range of 0ºF to 100ºF.

Initial examination will be carried out in all cases of wire renewal or major alterations in the tension length. Otherwise all examinations shall be routine examinations.

Subject to clause 1.2, the balance weight termination assembly is to be examined, as described below, every 2 years.

All dimensions are to be recorded on the Balance Weight Termination Record Sheet (see appendix for specimen).

All turnbuckles, compensating plates, pins, washers and split pins which are badly worn, burned or corroded must be renewed. All split pins removed must be renewed. All clevis pins removed and all turnbuckles are to be greased with Castrol 'Rustilo' (B.R. Catalogue No. 27/3435).
