Introduction

This Procedure covers the installation of a 25kV Brown Boveri section insulator in simple equipment, assuming that catenary insulation has already been installed (N.B. the catenary insulation in the direction of normal running if applicable). The information shall be modified where appropriate for compound catenary construction, 0.3 sq. in contact wire and reduced height section insulators.

There are two distinct types of contact wire end fitting, the "side-plate" type and the "set-screw" type. Each approved drawing shows the type used with that version of the section insulator. See Appendix 'A' for identification of major parts.

This Procedure details installation both with and without the approved tensioning rig, the latter being for the side-plate type end fittings only.
