This specification applies to all train describers supplied to Railtrack whether stand-alone or integral with another system.

PURPOSE

This document has been produced for the following FOUR reasons:

To define all the necessary features and information required by a Train Describer database to enable it to perform the desired function.

To standardise the format and presentation of the database tables required above.

To ensure that all database tables produced are easily re-configurable thus negating the need for specialised "program" changes when alterations are required.

To enable the necessary database tables to be produced as "raw ASCII" text files on floppy disk or equivalent. They can therefore be downloaded into data generation systems thus saving rework time.
