This Specification applies to all new and altered level crossings. In this context alteration should be taken to mean any document that requires:

a) For public vehicular level crossings, an amendment to an existing Level Crossing Order, or

b) For all other crossings, approval under the "Railways and Other Transport Systems Regulations 1994".

Purpose

This specification defines the requirements for and the format of a level crossing ground plan, and the information to be contained therein.
