This document applies to the signal works testing of the Thales Communications UK (Thales) TPWS track sub-system, the NRS Failure Indication Unit (FIU) for TPWS and the associated d.c. to d.c. converter for the FIU. For TPWS+ fitments, the requirements for TPWS OSS with complex approaches outlined in this document shall be followed.

The Network Rail Company Standard RT/E/G/11730 - Signal Works Testing, will apply to the testing of the alterations for interfacing TPWS to existing and new signalling systems and their associated power supplies.

This document does not apply to signal maintenance testing. It does not apply to the trainborne equipment. It does not apply to the signal works testing of the TPWS RETB Trackside Radio Control Unit (TRCU) equipment, or the TPWS UPS.

PURPOSE

This Company Specification has been prepared to provide Signal Works Testers with details of the minimum requirements for the testing and commissioning procedures necessary to validate the intended functionality and to verify the installation of the Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS).
