This Specification applies to all signalling circuits, including:

• electrification control circuits,

• any portion of the circuit in an operational telecommunications cable.

It excludes:

• signalling circuits otherwise protected against corruption by cable degradation e.g. SSI data links or that portion of a signalling circuit in an operational telecommunications cable which is within a transmission system.

PURPOSE

This Specification defines the control measures to identify the deterioration of insulation in signalling circuits and to address the risks arising, so as to satisfy the mandatory requirements of Railway Group Standard GK/RT0210, Asset Management for the Safety of Signalling and Operational Telecommunication Systems and Equipment.
