Where data communication is required between outstation equipment and a subservient satellite point, the requirements of Railtrack Company Specification RT/E/S/21011 Data Communication Circuits Associated with Point-to-Point Equipment Used on Electrical Distribution Systems shall apply.

The document is to be read in conjunction with Railtrack Company Specification RT/E/S/21000, Operational, Environmental and General Requirements for Remote Control Equipment for Electrical Distribution Systems and the relevant procurement specification.

Purpose

This specification states the requirements for data communications forming part of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system used for the remote monitoring and control of electrification equipment associated with a.c. or d.c. traction electrification systems.

The data communication is between electrical control rooms (ECRs) or control centres and outstation or remote terminal unit (RTU) equipment at locations to be remotely controlled/monitored from an electrical control room.
