This specification applies to data communication equipment which forms part of a point-to-point system used to enable remote equipment to be controlled and monitored from an electrical control room (ECR) or control centre.
The specification does not include requirements for site installation or commissioning works.
The document is to be read in conjunction with Railtrack Line Specifications RT/E/S/21000, "Operational, Environmental and General Requirements for Remote Control Equipment for Electrical Distribution Systems" and RT/E/S/21010, "Remote Control Point-to-Point Equipment Used on Electrical Distribution Systems", and the relevant procurement specification.
Purpose
This specification states the requirements for data communications requirements between parent and satellite (master/slave, or local/remote) ends of a point-to-point system used to extend control and indication from a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) outstation to a lineside location where remote equipment associated with an a.c. or d.c. traction network is sited. The remote equipment is generally positioned at a distance from the parent point exceeding 500 metres.
