The specification applies to the design, manufacture, testing at works and at site, and delivery ex works of equipment to provide power supplies to remote control equipment of an electronic type together with the preparation and supply of associated drawings and instruction manuals.

The specification does not include requirements for site installation or commissioning works.

The document is to be read in conjuction with Railtrack Line Specification RT/E/S/2100. "Operation Environmental and General Requirements for Remote Control Equipment for Electrical Distribution Systems" and the relevanant procuremetn specification.

Purpose

This specification states the requirements for power supplies to remote control equipment forming part of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, used for remote monitoring and control of electrical distribution systems.

The remote control equipment is installed at electrical control rooms (ECRs) or control centres, and at ‘outstation' or remote terminal unit (RTU) locations to be remotely controlled/monitored from an electrical control room.
