This specification applies to all electrical protection systems associated with the a.c. and d.c. electrification systems, excluding protection systems maintained as an integral part of main switchgear or interconnecting pilot systems. These shall be maintained in accordance with appropriate equipment specifications.

Purpose

This specification states the Chief Engineers minimum periodic maintenance requirements for electrical protection systems in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the a.c. and d.c. electrification systems.

The specification shall be used in conjunction with RT/E/S/21111 ‘General Requirements for Maintenance of Electrical and Plant Equipment', which contains the general requirements for maintenance of electrical and plant equipment, together with definitions and abbreviations.
