This specification applies to all electrical & plant batteries and battery charging equipment, except equipment installed in depots and stations which are specified in RT/E/S/40007.

Purpose

This specification states the Directorate's minimum periodic maintenance requirements for batteries and battery charging equipment in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the electric traction distribution system.

The specification shall be used in conjunction with RT/E/S/21111, which contains the general requirements for maintenance of electrical and plant equipment, together with definitions and abbreviations.
