This specification applies to all 25 kV A.C. Electrified Lines on Network Rail controlled infrastructure. The suite of modules forming the composite specification applies to Network Rail's contractors and also contains mandatory statements applicable to other persons.

To provide a consistent approach to working on or about 25 kV A.C. Electrified Lines, Train Operating Companies may, as best practice, apply this specification on infrastructure they control.

Purpose

This specification is an introduction to the suite of modules that together form the composite Network Rail Company Specification RT/E/S/29987 ‘Working on or About 25 kV A.C. Electrified Lines'. The composite specification includes responsibilities of persons required to work on, or so near to, electrified lines that danger may arise. Further requirements when working on or about the electrified lines are contained in the Rule Book GE/RT8000 (Modules AC 1, AC 2 & AC 3).

This document shall be read in conjunction with all the other modules in Network Rail Company Specification RT/E/S/29987 relevant to the activity to be undertaken.

The document contains an index of the suite of modules forming the composite Network Rail Company Specification RT/E/S/29987 and a comprehensive list of definitions and abbreviations applicable to the suite of modules.
