This Work Instruction shall apply to all HPSS installations that meet the following criteria:

• Primary drive supplied by an HPSA machine.  

• Plain lead layouts.

• UIC54 or RT60 S&C.

• Standard, shallow or deep bearer installations.

• C, D, E, F and SG switches, fitted with Balfour Beatty Track Systems "Torsion back-drive" components.

• Mark 2 Torsion Backdrive fitted with modified backdrive pins.

• High and Low Lid versions

Exclusions

The scope of this Work Instruction excludes the following HPSS installations:

• Swing nose crossings.

• Switches of a length greater than an "SG" switch,

• Torsion backdrives, other than Mark 2,

• HPSS with run-through protection device.

To detail the maintenance tasks for the HPSS risk based maintenance regime.
