This procedure applies to all signallers, crossing keepers, production supervisors, controllers and electric control room operators who, for the purposes of this standard, will be collectively known as operator.
There are several other company human resources policies and procedures that link into this process and their integral relationship are illustrated in Appendix A. This process is not to be used for dealing with allegations of misconduct, for which the disciplinary procedure must be used. This process is concerned with one aspect of capability influenced by behavioural factors such as a bereavement at home affecting concentration at work, for example.
Purpose
There are times in an operators working life when personal issues or other behavioural factors may affect their concentration and application to the tasks in hand. This policy is designed to provide both the operator and the line manager with a process for exploring such matters in a supportive environment. It provides guidance about the types of support available and outlines some actions that may be used to help support the operator whilst maintaining the safety of the railway.
