(a) Swing nose crossings fitted with a single BR 998 Detector Box
(b) Train Operated Points fitted with a single BR 998 Detector Box
(c) Point machines with no internal detection other than lock proving where the detection is provided by a single BR 998 Detector Box
(d) Yard points (e.g. non locking hydraulic points with one BR 998 detector).
Purpose
This Special Inspection Notice details the actions necessary to ensure that certain point configurations using a single BR 998 Detector Box are identified and appropriate remedial action taken for the specified configurations.
