PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to provide sufficient background to enable the application of the business priority levels recently engineered into the ARS system. Business priorities allow a more flexible approach to the allocation of train service priorities by the addition of information via the Time Table Processor.

This document seeks to describe the operation of this additional system of priorities. It does this through briefly describing the history of the contract under which the work was carried out, by describing conventional ARS regulation and also by describing the relationship between the business priority levels and conventional ARS regulation. In conclusion, some general guidelines to the application of the facility are presented.
