Introduction
Previously, it was necessary to generate each separate display element list manually using the 'Create' package. This has now been superseded by ADP utilities which automatically generate most of these lists from screen templates which can be produced in a number of ways :-
• direct from the standard CAD systems used by signal engineers; or
• by use of the 'Image' package; or
• by use of the 'Create' package.
Screen templates only require to show the layout of the track diagrams and each individual signalling element together with its name (on detail views only). This document defines the conventions for drawing such templates in order to ensure they are correct in their orientation and individual signalling elements are easily visualised.
There is a standard for the presentation of signalling and other information for VDU based command and control systems and all IECC screen templates must adhere to this standard. Its reference is RT/E/S/17504 and it is titled 'IECC Operating Specification for Railway Signalling Control and Indications Purposes’. This standard supersedes BR 1878 'Operating Specification for the Use of Visual Display Units for Railway Signalling Control and Indication Purposes’, which was the previous standard for IECC screen templates.
