PURPOSE

This document specifies the data areas used in the Remote Interlocking Interface (formerly known as a Relay Interlocking Interface) subsystem (RII). For a full description of RII and how to use its data areas, refer to the RII data tutorial, which also describes the preparation of data in the C programming language.

The data areas detailed in this document control the routeing of telegrams to and from field equipment, and alarm reporting to the IECC System Monitor subsystem (ISM). The other functions of the RII - principally the translation between IECC controls and indications and those required by the relay interlocking - are controlled by SSI-like data which is described in the SSI-Like Data Preparation Guides.

This document is split into the protocol-independent data areas and those which depend on the protocol used to communicate with a particular field link.
