Introduction

Integrated Electronic Control Centre (IECC) systems are installed and operational at eleven Network Rail Signalling Control Centres (SCCs).

Following the Cullen inquiry into the Ladbroke Grove rail accident, Network Rail contracted AEA Technology Rail to introduce a Signal Passed at Danger (SPAD) Alarm into the IECC.

The SPAD Alarm is part of a package of IECC improvements, designated Upgrade 003, that comprises software changes and enhancements to the Automatic Routesetting Subsystem (ARS) and Flexible Display Subsystem (DIS).
