Introduction
A set of points are those points controlled by a single points key on the Signalman's Panel (or the equivalent in an IECC system). A set is divided into two or more parts for various reasons, and these are detailed in SSI8500, "Specification for Design of SSI Signalling Schemes".
As specified in this document the part set numbers should always be used in the Trackside Functional Module Data Entry Forms so that the Diagnostics MPM data is correctly compiled to produce part set numbers in Technician's Terminal Failure Reports.
Where both of the parts sets are controlled by the same Points Module and do not need to be independently indicated to the Signalman then only a single identity is required (see Section 2). In other cases additional identities are required (see Section 3). The additional data required for part sets to be independently indicated on a Signalman's Panel or on an IECC system is detailed in Sections 4 and 5 respectively.
