This TI supersedes TI/023 issue 02 dated June 2006, it applies to all Network Rail staff and contractors who use the NR/SMS suite under NR/L3/SIG/10663
Purpose / Background
The Signalling Maintenance Specifications February 2005 issue, NR/SP/SIG/10660, contain a number of "As Directed" statements. These were originally intended to be ‘optional' tasks, but have been found to be unworkable in practice. To clarify the situation, each ‘As Directed' statement was re-worded in TI/023 issues 1 & 2.
With the Engineering/Maintenance 2A Re-organisation on 26th August 2008 the posts/job titles referred to in TI/023 issue 02 and NR/L3/SIG10663 issue 01 dated 01/12/07 have been abolished, this new TI reflects the responsibilities for deciding if the optional tasks/tests within the NR/SMS suite in NR/L3/SIG/10663 are undertaken for the new organisation, it shall also be noted that certain tasks/tests that were optional are now mandatory.
